Here are some helpful tips and pointers for the certification process!
1) Check out the Certification Timeline for 2015 – a week by week guide for preparing your application over the next month.
2) Start now! Fill out your application now to avoid the last minute rush. All schools that submit their applications by the Early Bird Deadline on April 23rd will be entered into a draw for a grant to fund an outdoor experiential field trip or in-school environmental education presentation of their choosing, up to a value of $1,000.
3) The Portfolio Requirements Checklist can also help you keep track of all the documents you may need for your online application. Download portfolio requirements from the Certification Requirements page.
4) Check out the Portfolio Exemplar it has examples of portfolio submissions for each of the six sections.
5) Student engagement in SGG: to claim any points in School Ground Greening, active student engagement must be demonstrated during the current school year (4.1). Please carefully review the requirements in the Certification Guide.
6) Claim future actions: if your school is doing field trips, class projects, or campaigns after April 30th, they can still be claimed in your online application. You will need to submit planning notes and the date the activity will take place in your application.
7) Claim your EcoAction Challenge: Submit your planning notes for your school’s EcoAction during June 1-5 and include the hashtag #EcoAction2015 to claim it in your certification application.
8) Find tips in Certapp: when you hover over the question number, it will give you a pop- up box that shares best practices for each question.
