Des chiffres et des faits
- Depuis 2002, ÉcoÉcoles Canada est un programme de certification primé qui offre un processus de vérification indépendante et d’une tierce partie aux écoles et centres d’éducation en plein air.
- En 2017, ÉcoÉcoles Ontario s’est constitué en tant qu’ÉcoÉcoles Canada et est devenu sa propre organisation indépendante, avec un statut officiel d’organisme de bienfaisance six mois plus tard.
- Nous sommes le programme de certification bilingue et volontaire le plus ancien au Canada qui reconnait et célèbre les écoles pour leur apprentissage environnemental et leur action écologique.
- En 2019, ÉcoÉcoles Canada étend, à l’échelle nationale, son programme primé de certification aux communautés scolaires d’un bout à l’autre du pays.
- ÉcoÉcoles Canada est l’opérateur national canadien du programme international Éco-Écoles, dirigé pas la Fondation pour l’éducation à l’environnement (FEE). FEE naît du Programme des Nations unies pour l’environnement (PNUE) et l’Organisme des Nations unies pour l’éducation, la science et la culture (UNESCO) et est alignés avec les objectifs de développement durable (ODD) des Nations unies.
- En tant que membre affilié de la FEE, ÉcoÉcoles Canada fait partie d’une communauté de 67 autres programmes ÉcoÉcoles nationaux à travers le monde.
- Une étude de tierce partie indique qu’en moyenne, à l’élémentaire, la quantité totale par élève de déchets mis en décharge est de 57 % de moins dans les ÉcoÉcoles certifiées Platine que dans les écoles non certifiées. Le texte intégral du rapport se trouve ici.
- Selon le plus récent rapport de recherche d’EnerLife Consulting, si l’efficacité énergétique de toutes les écoles non certifiées était comparable à celle des ÉcoÉcoles, les émissions globales de gaz à effet de serre seraient réduites d’environ 64 800 tonnes.
