This past school year, students across the country were invited to participate in the Young Reporters for the Environment Canada competition. The 2019-2020 competition challenged students to flex their journalistic muscles and submit photos, videos, and articles on three themes: climate change, pollution, and loss of biodiversity.
Unsurprisingly, the EcoSchools community did not disappoint! We received incredible submissions showcasing outstanding youth talent and a drive to take climate action through storytelling.
Now, the winners are in! Congratulations to the first place winners of the 2019-2020 YRE Canada competition:
- Drishti Gupta, “COVID-19 is Helping Birds Regain Their Population” (Article, ages 11-14)
- Natasha Pinto, “Apathy Personified” (Article, ages 15-18)
- Harveen Jagdeo, “We Are Not Alone In Our Cities!” (Photo, ages 11-14)
- Gurleen Bhandal, Srishti Singh, Naveen Sekhon, “The Future of Our World” (Photo, ages 15-18)
