We’re excited to announce a new member of the EcoSchools Board of Directors, Martha Turner Osborne.

Martha Turner Osborne is an award-winning marketing and digital executive who is always looking to push the envelope when it comes to cause marketing innovation. She holds an M.A. from the University of Toronto, and has held numerous board and advisory committee roles including most recently acting as board member with the Jane Goodall Institute.

Outside of work, Martha is a proud mom, wife, fitness enthusiast, cyclist commuter, art lover, foodie and animal lover.

Martha shared some of her thoughts on why she’s excited to be a part of the EcoSchools Board, and her personal commitment to the environment.

Q: What makes you personally passionate about the environment?

A: I’ve always been interested in the interconnection of all living things.  I’m an art collector largely focused on Canadian artists. Over the last five years I’ve had a keen interest in indigenous artists which awoke my appreciation for our ecosystem and the importance for respect for all living things.

That interest evolved into immersing myself into learning more about organizations like The Zeitgeist Movement that examine our socioeconomic models that are perpetuating unsustainable economic models that are effectively destroying our planet. With the frequency and intensity of natural disasters that we experience today all over the globe, we all have to take global warming seriously and do our part to act now. Helping to educate children is key.

Q: Why are you excited to be on the EcoSchools Board of Directors, and what unique perspective are you keen to share?

A: Education is near and dear to me. I have a M.A. in Education from O.I.S.E, UofT and I’ve developed many cause marketing programs targeted to helping support programs for children. They are our future. Educating children on the importance of sustainability is critical. Ontario EcoSchools plays a very important role in that education.

I am also keen to support EcoSchools’ strategic goal of going national and feel my experience leading marketing and digital strategy for large organizations may be of assistance.
