International Day for Preventing the Exploitation of the Environment in War and Armed Conflict: November 6, 2018
Since 2001, the United Nations has designated November 6 as a day to focus and reflect on the exploitation and loss of environment and natural habitat that is linked to human conflict.
- Ontario EcoSchools provides many resources related to this subject, including a Climate Leadership toolkit, Climate Change Letter-Writing Campaign, Shrinking Habitat – Share the Space, the Impacts of Environmental Disturbances on the Population Dynamics of an Ecosystem, and more.

World Fisheries Day: November 21, 2018
- Connect students to water issues both around the world and in their own backyards using our Water Awareness and Action kit and the Great Lakes: A Learning and Action Resource. Plus, consider running a shoreline cleanup this year.
- Learn more about the impact of human development on world fisheries via GDRC’s World Fisheries Day page.
- Greenpeace’s Break Free From Plastic is a great resource about plastic pollution on land and in oceans, and how to take action.
Buy Nothing Day: November 23, 2018
Buy Nothing Day is celebrated every November by environmentalists, social activists and concerned citizens around the world. Started by Kalle Lasn, founder of Adbusters, Buy Nothing Day has evolved into a global movement that encourages citizens to think creatively of ways to buy less, while poking fun at our consumerist culture.
