Welcome to a new year of environmental learning and action! Here are a few dates and events to note as you get back into the swing of things.

January 26 is your last chance to register!

  • In the Standard or Platinum stream? Input your Initial EcoReviews by Friday, January 26 (check out our guide to inputting EcoReviews for a refresher).

Revisit your #ecoresolution

  • In our last newsletter we asked if you had any green goals for 2018. We’ve been following along on Twitter and are impressed with your #ecoresolutions! User @nancyhenry_ told us “Technology will help schools go green! Less paper being used = less waste. Reusable water bottles/food containers.” We couldn’t agree more!
  • In the office, our Research and Data Analyst Theresa has resolved to only buy second-hand/used items whenever possible. Program Director Lindsay has resolved to choose active transportation (i.e., biking, walking) instead of driving and public transit. Executive Director Elanor has resolved to cut down on plastic and eliminate single-use straws. Way to go!
  • Remember, it’s never too late to create and share your own resolution with us. Tag us on Twitter @ON_EcoSchools and hashtag #ecoresolution!

Countdown to the 2018 SuperConference

  • Our annual SuperConference is just over a month away! Check out the workshop schedule and register soon! Registration is open until February 9.

Collect curriculum submissions

  • Don’t wait until April to collect submissions! Slow and steady is the way to go. Review our top five tips for planning and collecting submissions for lessons that demonstrate learning in, about, and for the environment.
  • Watch our Curriculum 101 video to find out how the EcoTeam at Ronald-Marion (CSViamonde) learned about their local waterway – and get more ideas for your own lessons and field trips.
  • Remember you can claim up to 14 points by submitting lesson plans (for lessons that have not yet happened), student work (for lessons that have happened), or sharing a summary of your field trip experiences.
