Certification Application

Celebrate your school’s achievements by sharing all of your hard work – from forming a strong EcoTeam to tackling an environmental issue through a school-wide campaign – in your certification application. If you can, submit early to avoid the rush and slower uploading time as the April 28th deadline approaches. Remember: if you meet the early-bird deadline of April 21st, you’ll be entered into a prize draw for a $150 Mountain Equipment Co-op gift card! Follow us on Twitter for weekly certification tips (or search #CertTIPS).

*TIP: Hit ‘save’ after inputting text for each question in your certification application before uploading your portfolio document.

Complete Teamwork and Leadership

We recommend completing this section by the end of March. Be sure to include the Ontario EcoSchools workshops if you attended them.

*TIP: If you attended the webinar on your own, you will need to attend a second webinar. Register now for one or both of our Get Inspired webinars on March 29th and April 6th.

Claim Spring Activities

There is still lots of time to plan eco-activities as the weather warms up! If your school is doing field trips, class projects, or Environmental Stewardship campaigns after April 28th, they can still be claimed in your online application. We know that many schools are currently in the initial stages of School Ground Greening projects; a project does not have to be in the ground to be included in this year’s application!

*TIP: For eco-initiatives that will take place after April 28, simply submit planning notes and/or photos of planning sessions in order to claim points. You can always share photos of your completed project via e-mail or social media.

School visits

We are already looking forward to the best part of the year: school visits! This year we have hired 27 enthusiastic assessors to visit schools, meet EcoTeams, and learn about all the hard work you’ve done. If this is the first time your school will receive a visit, find out what to expect here. For information on school visits or if you do not know if your school is receiving a visit, please contact your board representative.

*TIP: Get your EcoTeam ready to show off and celebrate during your school visit. Once you know the school visit date, communicate it to all EcoTeam members.
