Climate Leadership Contest: winning schools’ stories
As you may know, this past November, we hosted a Climate Leadership contest to encourage registered schools to share how they took climate action during or following COP22 in Marrakech, Morocco (November 7-18, 2016). Here are two stories on actions from winning schools: St. Joseph’s No Idling Action (ALCDSB) and Patricia-Picknell’s suite of Whole-School Campaigns (CSViamonde). Interested in what other #climateactions took place? Please see our highlight gallery and stay tuned for more school stories in the coming weeks.
Congratulations on your Initial EcoReviews
Way to go, EcoSchools! As of the registration deadline of January 27 2017, 1,294 schools completed initial EcoReviews. Next up: plan one or more Environmental Stewardship campaigns, collect student work for your Curriculum submissions, and think about School Ground Greening projects to get in the ground as the seasons change.
Outdoor and Environmental Education Centres go green!
This year we are running a pilot program with School Board-run Outdoor and Environmental Education Centres (OEECs). Ontario EcoSchools supports OEECs using the certification framework while recognizing their unique experiential approach to environmental education. A warm & welcoming shout-out to the eleven OEECs participating this year!
