Here are some tips on collecting the amazing environmental lessons conducted at your school. This list has been recycled from last year, by popular demand – with some additions!

  • Review the Certification Guide: Before you begin, review the Curriculum section of the 2016-17 Certification Guide for best practices.
  • Let students take the lead: Multiple members of the EcoTeam can upload documents in the online certification application. Have students collect the lesson descriptions and student work from their class, take a photo, and upload directly.
  • Share at Staff meetings: Make a regular announcement to involve other teachers, ask for submissions, gather a list of lessons, and ask colleagues to share photos of student work.
  • Centralize: designate a central place where teachers can drop off curriculum submissions, or an email address where they can send the documents.
  • Survey the school: When you walk through your school, keep an eye out for projects that have an environmental focus, and take the initiative to touch base with those teachers.
