While it’s just started to cool down, it’s never too early to start spring planning – especially if you have a project in mind that will require fundraising. Common questions we hear from teachers and staff include: how can we find out what funding opportunities are out there? What organizations can support our greening efforts? When do we need to start preparing our funding application?

Here are a handful of grants that are open this winter:

  • The Green Apple School Program provides grants of $1,000 to elementary and secondary schools in Ontario for projects that motivate students to adopt healthy eating habits. Applications are accepted year-round.
  • RBC Blue Water Project Community Action Grants range from $1,000 to $10,000, and are awarded to local or community-based organizations that are helping to preserve or protect water in towns, cities, and urbanized areas. Applications are due Dec 23, 2016.
  • Toyota Evergreen Learning Grounds School Ground Greening Grants help schools create outdoor classrooms to provide students with a healthy place to play, learn and engage with nature. These grants are offered at four points during the year; the next deadline to apply is February 10, 2017.
