Welcome to 2016! We hope you had safe and sustainable holidays and have come back recharged for a New Year full of green initiatives. Here’s what’s up and coming.

Certification Deadline: January 29th

The Initial EcoReview deadline is nearing! One of the key elements of your Ontario EcoSchools program, the initial EcoReviews allow you to establish a baseline of energy use and waste production so that you can identify areas for improvement.

  1. First, ensure your school is registered! Click to register.
  2. Conduct the Initial EcoReview. Click to download the Energy Conservation and Waste Minimization EcoReviews.
  3. Input your EcoReveiw results into your online application by January 29th (midnight).

For schools enrolled in the EECC program, be sure to upload and submit your completed and signed Yearly Planner and EcoTeam Pledge forms by January 29th (midnight).

Annual Report 2014-15

We are excited to launch our first ever Annual report. It covers highlights from the year, an overview of what we do, and an illustration of our collective impact as a community! Did you know that 882,000 students were engaged in environmental learning and action through the EcoSchools program last year? Winter After-School Webinar Series for the whole EcoTeam!

Our Expert webinar series is back this year with great topics including: pollinator health, water awareness and local food. These sessions will be hosted after-school (3:45 -5pm) in February, March and April. We will be sending out further details shortly.

EcoAction Challenge: May 16-20

Save the date to take an EcoAction with your school during the week of May 16-20th! This year will be better than ever with lots of great prizes for participating schools. Here’s a timeline to keep in mind:

  • Today: check out the EcoAction Challenge gallery for ideas on what you can do.
  • February: The updated EcoAction Challenge webpage will be launched.
