Say BOO! to Halloween with sustainable ways to celebrate. Here are some ideas and resources that can keep your school green during the spooky season.

1.Spooky Swap: Invite students to bring in costumes to trade-in at a costume-swap event before the 31st. Host it in the cafeteria or gymnasium and reduce, reuse, recycle.

2. Goofy Green Dress up: Check out these creative eco costume ideas.

  • Phantom power -a vampire or ghost that sucks energy from appliances
  • Energy lightsaver – Dress up as a star wars character and wear a “turn out the lightsaber” sign.
  • GOOS Goose: Become the Good-On-One-Side goose. Share how to reuse by dressing up as a goose who reuses paper.
  • Super Commuter: wear bike helmet, safety vest, running shoes, bring a scooter or bike pump.

3. Go local: Give out locally grown apples, carve local pumpkins and toast the seeds. This encourages healthy eating and buying local.

4. Recycled art: Use GOOS paper and other recycled materials to decorate your classroom or school.
