This year, why not add fundraising to your EcoTeam action plan? Fundraising can give a sense of being proactive, develop useful life skills, and help fund larger EcoSchools projects. Many schools ask us for fundraising tips and we will provide ideas throughout 2015-16. To start us off, here are some grants for this fall:

  • Aviva Community Fund: The Aviva Community Fund offers support and funding to community causes close to your heart. Idea submission opens on September 15 and runs to October 2nd.
  • EcoLeague Action Project funding: EcoLeague funding [$400] is available for schools to engage in an action project. Action projects must be interactive, educational, and address a local sustainability issue.
  • Great Lakes fund: The Great Lakes Guardian Community Fund [up to $25,000] was set up to help people take action to protect and restore their corner of the Great Lakes. Deadline to apply is October 23rd 2015. Review requirements for more information.
  • Project Nestbox: Schools can receive a free bird nest box in March 2016. Apply now while supplies last!
  • TD Friends of the Environment Foundation: The Foundation supports a wide range of environmental initiatives, with a primary focus on environmental education, urban greening and enhancing biodiversity, and energy conservation. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
  • The Toyota Evergreen Learning Grounds program helps schools create outdoor classrooms to provide students with a healthy place to play, learn and develop a genuine respect for nature. Use the fall months to plan ahead  and apply for this grant (up to $3,500). The next deadline is Monday December 14, 2015.
