Northern Territories

Schools in the Northern Territories joined the program this year, getting started with actions such as creating an EcoCode; an environmental mission statement, vision statement, or pledge to display in a creative way for all to see.

Newfoundland and Labrador

Community Clean-up’s were the most popular action for schools in Newfoundland, with students working in teams to clean up litter around the school grounds and playground, becoming environmental stewards for their local community!

British Columbia

Schools in British Columbia are supporting School Ground Biodiversity surveying the biodiversity of plants on their school grounds, and taking action to support native species.

Quebec

Students across Quebec created safe spaces for bugs and insects to hide during the winter through the Create Homes for Wildlife action.

Prairies (AB, SK, MB)

In Saskatchewan, teachers and students participated in workshops and Professional Development opportunities to support Environmental learning and climate action across the province.

Ontario

The Great Gulp action became increasingly popular for schools in Ontario this year to celebrate World Water Day, highlighting the importance reducing single-use plastic waste and access to safe drinking water.

Maritimes (NB, NS, PEI)

Students in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick regularly visited a Sit Spot on their local school grounds to reflect and contemplate observations, building a deeper connection to their surrounding environment.
