Did you know? Greenhouse gas emissions are often organized into three categories called “scopes” to make them easier to track.
How to get started
Collect 12 months of your school’s energy data, including:
- Scope 1 (heating and cooling): Fuel type and monthly consumption for heating and cooling your school building.
- Scope 2 (electricity): Total electricity used in kWh each month.
Send your school board facilities department or school administrator a school energy data request, using the Data Request Form.
These resources and calculations are part of the School Energy Emissions action in the EcoSchools Certification Application.
