Dear EECOM Members, Presentation Proposal Applicants, Partners, Colleagues and Friends:

After careful consideration and consultation, and with the wellness and safety of our community in mind, the EECOM Conference Steering Committee has made the difficult decision to postpone the upcoming EECOM Conference in Toronto.

Originally scheduled for October 21-24, 2020, this conference is being postponed due to concerns about CoVID-19 (Coronavirus) and the current labour action in public schools. The World Health Organization’s declaration of CoVID-19 as a pandemic and subsequent calls to cancel mass gatherings, as well as the Ontario’s government’s decision to close all publicly-funded schools until April 5, have signalled to us that as a team we need to be both cautious and proactive in moving forward.

We understand that this news may bring disappointment – we share in this, especially as we have invested so much time and energy in organizing this conference.

We have put a plan in place to reschedule the conference in Toronto to a new Spring date of April 28-May 1, 2021. We want to reassure everyone that current plans for the conference will be moved to the new dates; your efforts to be involved in this conference are greatly appreciated and will continue to be utilized.

Please follow @EcoSchoolsCAN on Twitter for the latest information and updates.

All applicants who submitted proposals for Presentations and the Research Symposium will be automatically considered to present at the new dates in Spring 2021 (you do not need to reapply). We are still on track to notify all applicants of their status by March 31st.

The EECOM 2020 Steering Committee apologies for any disruptions this may cause – it is our hope that by making this decision early it may make it easier for all to accommodate this date change with less inconvenience.

We wish to thank you for your interest in being a part of our EECOM conference in Toronto and for your understanding and support in this date change. We will be posting updates about registration, which will now open in the fall, and other conference news, so please check in regularly with our website for updates: https://ecoschools.ca/eecom

We look forward to collaborating with you April 28-May 1, 2021!

Sincerely,

Lindsay Bunce, Hilary Inwood and Haley Higdon, Conference Co-Chairs

On behalf of the EECOM Conference Steering Committee
