Every year we meet amazing and diverse EcoTeams. But what makes for an engaged team? We gathered these tips from existing EcoTeams to help your school have a successful year.

1) Start early: If you begin in September it’s easier to involve more students and plan for the year ahead.

2) Share your goals for the year at staff and parent council meetings to get school administration, teachers, and parents on-board.

3) Involve a range of grades and age levels to allow for mentoring and succession from one year to the next.

4) Assign roles and tasks to individual team members. For instance, grade 3 classes could be your school’s ‘Recycling Rangers.’

5) Use the (updated!) Yearly Planner to map out your year.

6) Get inspired by checking out our Teamwork and Leadership photo gallery.

7) Create a way to get your message out. This could include bulletin boards, social media, websites, assemblies, announcements, videos, newsletters, posters. We have created a list of messages you can use to introduce your EcoTeam.
